Severin Seifert, Dr. rer. nat., born 1979, studied mineralogy at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and then worked for a short time in the ceramics industry. Afterwards, he received his PhD in cement mineralogy at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. After gaining further experience in materials development in the industry, he moved to the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP, where he is head of the group “Building Materials Technology”. The research group is concerned with the development of building materials of the future, focusing primarily on sustainable and recovered raw materials.
